A good one!

I just finished listening to this book. I loved it! I started it on our drive to Florida. It's amazing how enjoyable driving can be when your husband sits in the back and you have a pair of noise-canceling head phones and a good book. The audiobook is read by Jim Dale (he also did the Harry Potter Books). He is excellent! This book is the first in a series of four. It's written for the age range 9-12, it details the events leading up to the book Peter Pan. Introducing Hook, Tinkerbell, Neverland, Peter and his abililty to fly. I feel like I should be on Reading Rainbow... "but you don't have to take my word for it." Supposedly Disney has the rights for the movie, Oh I can't wait. Now, I need to get my hands on the next one.

On my mind...

This is my little man. Sam is almost eight months. He is getting teeth and having quite a difficult time with it. (Difficult meaning he has actually been crying and not sleeping.) He refuses to eat solids (lucky me) and is moving all over; through it all he can still melt my heart.

I am a little short on sleep but a post like this could probably send me over the edge any day. We have met some awesome people here in Kentucky quite a few of these have moved on. This one will be one of the hardest for me. She (they) has been with me through a lot of stuff here in Ky from day one of YUM! to today. They are family. One of the best things about Amy is her Optimism. She can make anything or any situation fantastic. She is my cheerleader in so many ways.

I am a "Lame" Blogger!

Thanks for pointing out the obvious dear friend Kristi. I wished you lived here to tell me face to face. I've been thinking a lot about blogland and all the people I admire out there who do a great job. I love to look and lurk a little. Jed and I have talked a lot about journaling and documenting our little lives in general lately. Jed made a journaling resolution for 2010. I've concluded this is my spot, and I can do the same. I'll be better, even if that means lame posts some weeks or just some pictures. I will.

Halloween Costumes!

Every November I tell myself I need to start making costumes in June. Every October I spend all my free time sewing to get costumes done by all the festivities. I do love making them and that's why I do it every year. My new goal is to branch out and make skirts or dresses for my girls to wear all year long. There are plenty of awesome women around me that sew amazing things, we will see how far I get.

This year we stuck with a Peter Pan theme. It was the only time Jed will ever let me put tights on his boy. I gave a great sales pitch to Ellie earlier this year trying to get her to be Wendy (so we would be slightly more proportionate). I did such a good job, both girls wanted to be Wendy. Sarah did not want to be Tinkerbell even with the shoes, sparkles and wings. I wish I could remember the exact sales pitch I could use it for so many other things. In the end everyone was happy and we all had a great holiday.

Birthday Fun!

Jed and I both celebrated big birthdays in the last few months. Jed just wanted to "spend it together as a family", so we took him up to The Great Wolf Lodge in Mason, OH. We had the best time together. We left mid-day on Friday and returned late Saturday night. Ellie started a little timid, but was soon asking for swimming lessons (a first) and going on every waterslide and in every pool. Sarah was dangerously adventurous, she has no fear. Sam just chilled and Jed and I took turns sitting with him. The rooms were themed, the girls had their own separate bunk bed and t.v. We had a blast and are all looking forward to going again.

School Days

We are alive and well! Despite the lack of postings life is great! We have been busy enjoying it.

Ellie started school in August. She does 5 full days here in Kentucky which took some getting used to and she occasionally rides the bus. She started so shy but has warmed up and likes learning especially computers and art. I pick her up in the afternoon and she starts every school day telling me she loves me and asking if I can be a little earlier in the car pool lane. Sarah cried every morning for about two weeks when Ellie started school, but she has since figured out she gets a little more attention and a little freedom to play with whatever she wants. Sam is great. He has continued to be an allstar baby, very content, snuggly and sweet. I think I need five more just like him.

A Visit From the Toothfairy

We are calling on the Toothfairy for the first time in the Gold house. Elisabeth lost her first tooth in June just after turning 5 (am I really getting that old). She wiggled it out all by herself, even though her Dad would have willingly helped it out. When she decided it was time she sat in a chair with some Kleenex and it took about 3 minutes.

She immediately wrote a note to the Toothfairy and decided to leave it on the door like the kids here and I started a Ballerina Princess tooth pillow (I -being in denial- had not thought to make this any earlier) thanks for the link friend.
