These are weeks and weeks late but this is what our Halloween looked like in Kentucky. I tell myself every year, I should start making costumes in July. In 2011, I just want them done the first week of October. I think I can do that!
The girls each wanted to be Ariel (at least at the beginning of the month). So that is the direction we went. I was inpired by Heather Bailey's costume for her daughter a few years ago. I did not have a pattern (which was a first). I just made most of it up and used my little sister as the guinea pig (convincing her to make the same one and start first so I could ask her for advice, thanks Amanda).

Sarah ready for some Saturday Yew Dell Garden Trick or Treating.
Elisabeth posing. She is such a good sport.
Sam was Flounder. The costume is a fish. Jed was the first to burst my fish bubble by telling me from the front he just looks like a bird. It was true, though I denied it all the way. There were plenty of times he did get called Big Bird or a Parrot. Those are scales not feathers. We had a great time with each other! Ellie and I carved pumpkins together. Sarah marched her Ariel dress-up shoes around the neighborhood parade with me. We had a spooky dinner (no pics) inspired by Lacey and ate lots and lots of candy. What a success!
