First Day of First

It is the first day of First Grade for Elisabeth, she seemed pretty excited especially that she didn't have to ride the bus to school for the first day. We had Peanut Butter French Toast with whipped cream (at her request) and Jed painted her fingernails this morning (which will probably become a yearly tradition because she liked it so much). We took pictures and said good-bye then waved until the car was gone. Sarah and I made our way back inside and sat down to finish our breakfast. Sarah looked at me and this was our conversation:

Sarah: "That was weird"
Mom: "What was weird?"
Sarah: "Saying good-bye to Ellie. We will miss her, won't we?"

I think my three year old thinks she is 16; but, yes Sarah, we will miss her. I just can't believe how fast time goes.

*Elisabeth returned home with a glowing report, she thinks first grade is even better than Preschool! Believe me when I say, that is a big compliment in her book!

Our Teacher Gift

I fell in love with this simple monogram idea in December. So when teacher appreciation week rolled around I had to give it a try. We made one for Elisabeth's teacher and one for the assistant. Elisabeth gladly helped with the painting, it was SO quick and easy. We used this great tutorial and gave them with a gift card. I think filling them with school supplies or teacher essentials would also be great idea.

Fancy Float

One of Elisabeth's last projects for Kindergarten was building a float about one of the books she loves. They were then able to parade their floats around school. We are big fans of Fancy Nancy over here at our house so she picked "Explorer Extraordinaire". It's about an exploring club that Nancy and her friend Bree have. This is Ellie's rendition with Nancy and Bree (we each drew out a few drafts before we compared with each other.) She was great with the tissue paper, she already knew how to load it onto the pencil then dip in glue. We took this project one day at a time and she was so excited as it came together on the last day (which means I saw some great jumping around from her).
